SNES Classics Wrap-up and A Brief Look to the Future
Now that I’ve finally caught up on my sleep, I figured I should make a post on wrapping up the SNES Classics event and give a glimpse to the future of the Zeldathon Team.
Often I don’t like to post about preliminary thoughts on what we’re thinking for future events, but I think it’s time to start giving you guys some more updates on what we’re doing in the interest of maintaining the community we’ve established and in an effort to expand that community.
Even with the SNES Classics event over, our website has still received a fairly decent amount of traffic, and we want to give you guys a reason to keep coming back.
The SNES Classic Event finished after almost exactly 48 hours of continuous gameplay, at 7:45pm on Sunday, December 20. We had to make a few substitutions which are listed in the games section of our website, but for the most part we kept true to the spirit of the event. We showed what a great console the SNES was. Although we didn’t meet our goal, we still raised a decent amount of money for an outstanding organization.
For our next two events, we have a possible exhibition race against the Wily Whompers Team in a “Platformers Classic.” We have a lot of raw ideas for games, but nothing concrete yet. You may have some more Mario, and Mega Man to look forward to, along with Crash Bandicoot to look forward to, but who knows? This will likely take place in the middle of May. I’ll try to see if the team is willing to do something smaller, sooner, but this may be the earliest event of 2010.
Obviously, we’re doing Zeldathon ‘10. It may be a bit earlier this year and be held in July, but we’ll keep you posted.
What did you think of SNES Classics?

I (obviously) thought the marathon was great, and even though when it ended, I felt it was too short, I’m excited that we actually did the marathon in about the amount of time it was supposed to be.
Big thanks and congrats to Alex for Super R-Type, by the way.
I definitely had a lot of fun with this marathon. My brother went from NES to Genesis to N64, so we missed the SNES; it was nice to see some of the games we missed out on. Even if we didn’t get much of Zombies Ate My Neighbors!
This was my first Zeldathon event, and i have to say it was great, very funny chats going on both on cam and in the chat room. I still own a SNES (though not sure if it works anymore) and have owned/played some of those games so it was great to see them again. A little depressed that i could not see it all, and missed Mario but it was still amazing and cant wait for the next event.
P.S. I will now be majoring in Marioian Geometry with a minor in constructing invisible walls. lol
hey when is the next marathon or stream?
Not sure yet, but it looks like we may race against the Wily Whompers team in April or May.
Zeldathon ‘10 is looking like it may happen in July.
