After 85 hours of continuous, non-stop gaming, we’ve raised over $1,000 for the National Children’s Advocacy Center, making a priceless impact on the lives of children.

$500 – Living On a Prayer by Bon Jovi

Mark your calendars. On July 5th, we’ll be holding our third annual summer Zeldathon event, benefiting the National Children’s Advocacy Center. As always, we will be playing all of the Zelda main console game: The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Link To The Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess.

The games will be played back to back, nonstop, over the course of 72 hours (or more) and we will be webcasting the entire event.

We will also be including some (if not all) of the handheld console Zelda games. We’re still working on the details of that and will be announcing more information as soon as everything is excited.

Our goal is to raise $1,000 for the National Children’s Advocacy Center. We’ve met our goal the past two years and we have no doubt we can do again with the support of all of our viewers.

Often I don’t like to post about preliminary thoughts on what we’re thinking for future events, but I think it’s time to start giving you guys some more updates on what we’re doing in the interest of maintaining the community we’ve established and in an effort to expand that community.

Even with the SNES Classics event over, our website has still received a fairly decent amount of traffic, and we want to give you guys a reason to keep coming back.

The SNES Classic Event finished after almost exactly 48 hours of continuous gameplay, at 7:45pm on Sunday, December 20. We had to make a few substitutions which are listed in the games section of our website, but for the most part we kept true to the spirit of the event. We showed what a great console the SNES was. Although we didn’t meet our goal, we still raised a decent amount of money for an outstanding organization.

For our next two events, we have a possible exhibition race against the Wily Whompers Team in a “Platformers Classic.” We have a lot of raw ideas for games, but nothing concrete yet. You may have some more Mario, and Mega Man to look forward to, along with Crash Bandicoot to look forward to, but who knows? This will likely take place in the middle of May. I’ll try to see if the team is willing to do something smaller, sooner, but this may be the earliest event of 2010.

Obviously, we’re doing Zeldathon ‘10. It may be a bit earlier this year and be held in July, but we’ll keep you posted.

We’ve been practicing around the clock the past several days in preparation for the event and we’re hoping to deliver a really fun event for a great cause.

Andrew Julian will be making his much awaited return on Saturday. This may be his last event with the Zeldathon Team, so make sure to tune and perhaps dissuade him from leaving us!

Our new forum is almost ready to go. Amanda has been kind enough to set it up and we’ll be linking to it soon.

Zeldathon: SNES Classics starts tomorrow at 6:00pm EST. We’ll be putting the webcast and chat on the home page tomorrow.

We’re playing 14 SNES games non-stop for 48 hours to raise money for the National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC).

Since it’s the holiday season and we realize people have a lot of expenses during this time of the year, we have a more modest goal of $500.

The full list of games can be found in the games section of our web site, but essentially we’re playing a combination of some of the best selling SNES games, along with our personal favorites and games we felt had a defining role in the SNES era.
